asciiCOM Viewing Software Details

AsciiCOM is a document-oriented data management viewing program developed in Visual C++ to run on personal computers under Microsoft Windows. Using familiar industry-standard dialog boxes and tool bar buttons, it allows users with little or no computer experience to easily access, view and distribute documents stored on CD-ROM or other media. AsciiCOM provides the following capabilities:

	Powerful easy-to-use data access and retrieval
	Variable index sorts and searches (up to 8 indices, in any combination or sequence)
	Character string, wild card, and direct key search/select functions
	Various display formats including software forms and variable font sizing
	Integration with other Windows applications (Clipboard feature)
	Direct faxing, LAN and WAN access
	Content-sensitive Help throughout

asciiPRO Processing Software Details

asciiPRO is the complementary software which processes client data for viewing by asciiCOM. Unlike a relational database system, asciiPRO's unique compressed index file design allows superior access, retrieval, sorting, and data manipulation. Since asciiPRO retains all data in ASCII format, other PC software, computer operating systems, and application programs can easily access the information.

In a typical application, asciiPRO reads standard input files and prepares viewing files by:

	Processing selected pages into ASCII data files
	Extracting page indices as specified by the user
	Sorting record indices for subsequent high speed retrieval and access
	Compressing page access & index files to minimum size for attachment to data files
